Levitating Fun in Music Munchkins

The Music Munchkins were off to the races with a levitating good time this morning! Parachute play is always a favourite among the crowd – going on top, going underneath, and twirling all around it. This program is just one of the ways our kids are exploring the gifts of music. Today was all about rhythm, singing, and sound – so much fun for a one year old!

Dress Like Your Instrument

These budding cello and violin enthusiasts love their instruments so much, they decided to dress up like them for Halloween! Each student of the Strings Primer program, led by Ardeth Erikson, cut out and decorated their instruments extremely well. Vivaldi and Yo-Yo Ma would be so impressed! Well done, Strings Primer, your creativity and colourful works of art are acceso!

Introducing Anders Erikson, Youth Opener

Youth Opener for Oct 11 NOCCA Concert

Our very own Anders Erikson will be the youth opener for the October 11th NOCCA – North Okanagan Community Concert Association concert at the Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre, featuring Oktopus.

Anders began taking cello lessons in 2013, at age 5, with Suzuki teacher Benjamin Gish, in Walla Walla, Washington. During his time in Walla Walla, he was also taught by Ed Dixon and Sally Singer at Whitman College. Since moving to Vernon, Anders has continued his studies with his grandfather, George Kiraly. In addition to private lessons Anders has participated in youth symphonies, chamber music ensembles and church music groups. He is a 10th grader at Kal Secondary, an avid competitive swimmer, loves to ski, and rolls sushi at Wasabi on the weekends.
